New Jersey native Kurt Habermann started spinning in the late 90's under the name Dj Oreo. His love for music started with the New York underground hip hop scene. He loved the Djing element of hip hop and knew that this was something that he wanted to do. At the time Kurt looked up to dj's like Dj Riz, and Stretch & Bobbito. After a year of non-stop practicing he linked up with Dj Dynamite who was the manager of a local record store. Kurt started spinning hip hop at local parties specializing in scratching and beat juggling. . With the help of his friends Kurt entered the DMC dj battle competition. Kurt made it to the final 8 in the DMC New York . The competition was fierce, but Kurt’s set was mentioned on the DMC world website. Kurt was a sponsored by PNB nation clothing line , and has opened up for many artist such as Smif & Wessun, Dead Prez, and Non Phixion. In 99’ the New York club scene was exploding. Kurt spent every weekend at the NYC “super clubs” Kurt quickly became fond of the music that Tony Draper, JP, and Boris were playing. The transition to house was very easy to Kurt because of his battle do background. Kurt incorporates his roots in all his sets. There is never a dull moment and he’s always looking to surprise you . Kurt Habermann has played many venues across New York, New Jersey, Arizona, Boston, and Florida. His influences today include Mark Knight, Fedde le Grande, Robbie Rivera, and Funkagenda to name a few. Kurt is an extremely talented & versatile dj who loves to share his passion for music with the masses. Kurt is constantly adapting to the rapid changes in music, but he still utilizes the fundamentals of his trade.
